Getting Started with Course Selection

The aim of this website is to provide a guide to students in planning their pathways towards further education, training and employment.

It contains a detailed list of courses to be offered at this school, along with a listing of teachers/personnel who can give you guidance with your course selections.

If you do not know what you want to do in your future, do not worry, that is extremely common. Keep your options broad.

Remember: Make your own choices

Things to think about:

  • What are you interested in?
  • What are you good at?
  • What do you enjoy?
  • If you know what you want to do/study when you leave school - what subjects do they suggest?

Who can you talk to for advice?
  • Parents and caregivers
  • Teachers
  • School Deans/ Pouwhare
  • Your school's careers team

Remember in Years 11-12 you need to select six courses. In Year 13 select five courses plus study. A sixth course instead of study is subject to approval.

CHOOSING A PROGRAMME OF STUDY FOR 2024

Every effort is made to ensure that as many students as possible are able to study a programme of their choice.  It is a priority of the school to offer a continuity of courses and to meet student need. Subjects which do not attract sufficient students may not run, or may have to be offered with reduced teacher contact hours.

Check this site carefully before completing  subject selections.

At school you can discuss your choices with:

Careers Centre staff:

Book an appointment through Mrs Bundle in the Careers Centre.

Information about tertiary study and employment options can also be obtained from the Careers Centre.

Individual subject teachers:

Speak with you subject teachers regarding your course selection. If you require additional information speak with The Head of Faculty.
