Level 2 Composing Music - Creative Sounds - Semester A

Course Description

Aim To create student compositions and arrangement to release as either a CD and or via a Sound Cloud account.

In this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to compose music in varying styles and to arrange existing music. Through this you can develop your own individual compositional style. You will also develop skills in using different modes of technology to write and record your musical ideas. You can create music either individually or in groups with other students within the class. You will design your own album cover and learn to critic through knowledge others compositions. It is expected that students will develop skills in all areas but will complete between 8 and 12 credits for assessment. Not all skills taught will be assessed

It is expected that students will extend their listening range by attending two concerts during this course. Transport and Ticket costs to be advised.

Recommended Prior Learning

Ten level 1 music credits including and a pass in AS91092 "Composing two pieces of music"or by interview with the HOF.
