Course Description

This course allows students to develop their critical thinking skills and put them into action to understand and try to achieve healthier outcomes in society today. Topics include Taking Action, and evaluating factors that influence people's ability to manage change.
Course Overview
Term 1
Evaluate factors that influence people's ability to manage change.
This involves explaining risk and protective factors.
Understanding the concept of resilience.
Investigating strategies to maintain protective factors and minimise risk therefore positively influencing health and well-being.
Term 2
Take action to enhance an aspect of people's well-being within the school or wider community.
What is health promotion?
Things to consider when planning health-promoting action.
Planning, implementing and evaluating a health promoting action.
