Level 1 Chemistry and Biology

11CB
Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr M. Kindley

Recommended Prior Learning

Should have finished year 10 with at least curriculum level 5 in most assessments.

Chemistry is the study of atoms and how they react and how we use this knowledge to make new substances and understand chemical reactions around us. Understanding basic chemistry concepts is important for almost every profession.

Biology is the study of life from the smallest cell to massive ecosystems. What could be more interesting than learning about what makes living things including ourselves work? There are over 25 branches of Biology. It has four Literacy credits.

Chemistry and Biology are involved in everything we do, from growing and cooking food to cleaning our homes and bodies to launching the NZ-made Electron Rockets from Mahia.
