Science

Science is the systematic way that humans use try to make sense and understand the world around us. Scientists begin by observing and recording in an accurate way to gain that understanding. They also conduct experiments to enhance that understanding and to turn that knowledge into useful ideas and products.

Our teachers believe it is essential that all students receive a solid grounding in current scientific understandings, values and skills for them to function in our modern world that is increasingly shaped by the application of Science to nearly every aspect of daily life.

At year 11 we have 3 courses General Science which has topics on Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Chemistry and Biology is for students who want a more in-depth course on these subjects. Physics and Space is for students who want a more in-depth course on these subjects. You can take Chem/Bio and Phy/Space together if you are planning on studying a University science course and pursuing a career in the sciences. General Science cannot be taken with another year 11 science course.

At Years 12-13 we offer courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Space Science. Horticultural Science is offered as part of the Innovative Horticulture Programme.
