Aim To develop composition skills and create two pieces of original music.
In this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to compose music in varying styles. Through this you can develop your own individual compositional style. You will also develop skills in using different modes of technology to write and record your musical ideas. You can create music either individually or in groups with other students within the class. You will learn to critique through modeling others compositions and peer reviewing your own compositions. It is expected that students will develop skills in all areas but will complete between 6 and 10 credits for assessment. Not all skills taught will be assessed

Students will have the opportunity to attend one concert during this course. This will offer students a chance to experience music from genres outside their normal listening parameters and through this extend their knowledge in composition. It is optional, transport and ticket costs to be advised.
It is recommended that students have completed one semester of Year 10 Music or have been playing an instrument or singing for two years or have been creating their own music outside of school or by interview with the Music Teacher.
