This is an introductory course to a variety of health issues taking place in today’s world.
The topics include:
Sexuality, Drug Education and study skills.


Course Overview

Term 3
Understanding 'Sexuality'.
Strategies for maintaining and enhancing well-being in sexuality-related situations.

Study skills - effective ways of learning.

Term 4
Issues related to drug use.
What is a drug?
Which drugs are causing the most concern?
What influences people to use drugs.
The effects of drug use on well-being, and society.
Advertising issues related to drug use.

Pathway

Level 2 Health - Taking Action and peoples ability to manage change - Semester A, Level 2 Health - Teenage Health Issues - Semester B.

Nursing, Army medical careers, Mental health services, counselling, psychology, Sports nutrition, PE and Health teaching, physiotherapy.

Recommended Prior Learning

Achievement at or above the expected curriculum level in Year 10 Health and Physical Education or with Head of Faculty approval. A positive attitude and a keen interest in Health issues.
