Recommended Prior LearningYear 10 Mathematics and Statistics at Curriculum Level 5 or above.
This course with cover all the strands of Mathematics and Statistics over the year. It will cover more Statistics and be at a slower pace than 11MATP.
There will be two internal assessments and one external, total 15 credits. The external will be focussed on Statistics, Probability and Number. The assessment will be in school, not in the external NCEA exams.
Term 1
1.2 Mathematical Methods Internal.
This standard covers, measurement, geometry, trigonometry, pythagoras, number and some algebra.
Assessment will be a written test over 3-4 periods.
Term 2
1.1 Exploring data Internal.
This standard requires you to investigate data and write a statistical report.
The assessment will be over 3 periods in class.
Term 3
1.3 Interpret and apply mathematical and statistical information in context External.
This standard involves interpreting and analyising statistical graphs, infrographics and mathematical tables. You will be required to write a report.
The assessment is external but sat internally at school in class over 3 periods.
This course leads onto Level 2 and 3 Statistics. It does not lead onto Level 2 Mathematics or Level 3 Calculus.
