Recommended Prior Learning

Year 10 Drama is useful not essential.

The Year 11 Drama course is a fun and engaging entry into the drama and theatre world. We explore plays, devising, directing, script-writing, costumes, props and wonderful new worlds all through the drama context. We use techniques, elements and conventions to create our own fantastic drama pieces. There are opportunities to perform and to share our work with others.

We will work as a class to plan, prepare and perform a play/s in a public performance refining our acting skills and working as an ensemble. We will explore in-depth a significant play and communicate our understanding of key social, cultural and historical influences in a practical presentation.

This subject requires full participation from all students throughout the semester. Students will be encouraged to attend live theatre performances during the year. There is an out of class rehearsal commitment required as part of this course.
It is expected that students will develop skills in all areas but will complete between 8 and 14 credits for assessment. Not all skills taught will be assessed.
