Level 2 Gateway - Semester A

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Gaylia Bundle

The Gateway Programme is designed to strengthen the pathway for students from school to workplace learning. Students gain practical work knowledge with businesses which will make learning relevant and ensure that students have a smooth transition from school to employment, further education or training.
Students are assessed in the workplace, at school or a combination of both.
Gateway differs from work experience positions as the student has specific tasks to learn and be assessed on.
The majority of Gateway students work one day per week for a minimum of 10 weeks across Terms 1-3.
Gateway may be taken as a timetabled option or it can be done over a shorter time (holidays are popular) or as an extra option.
Only students who have a good work ethic and attendance record in school will be considered. Other staff will be consulted as to the suitability of students for this programme as much of the school work is done as individualised study.
Compulsory Gateway units cover Levels One – Two. Health & Safety, C.V., First Aid
There are many varied units of study available to students depending on the industry your placement is in or if you are doing it as a timetabled option.
