Level 3 Visual Arts - Graphic Design
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms S. Bell.
This course builds on the skills and knowledge gained in your Year 12 Visual Arts Design class. You will explore a range of artistic conventions, ideas and techniques in Design, both historical and contemporary, and then apply that to your own portfolio project. You will select from a range of Design scenarios, and work to fill a variety of briefs for your internal and external assessments. Your internal assignments will contribute towards the external assessment, and the project will be a year long investigation into your scenario. Your project will allow you to investigate topics that matter to you, and will allow you to express your original ideas, wrapped around the Design conventions of your chosen artist and design era models.
Possible scenarios can include: corporate identity, event promotion, public awareness campaigns, or experience design. Methods and media to respond to your briefs can include computer graphic design, fine arts techniques, illustration, digital painting, moving image design, 3-D modelling, product design and more, depending on your skill set and level of ability. Students will be encouraged to follow their strengths and look towards what they wish to pursue in tertiary education or in the workforce.
