Level 2 Outdoor Education
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs T. Remington.
Outdoor Education is classroom based and provides practical learning experiences in outdoor activities and opportunities for personal development through adventure and challenge. This course will also aim to develop initiative and leadership skills through accepting responsibility, decision making and coping with adversity. This course will include Snorkeling, kayaking, survival skills, weather/maps in the outdoors, overnight tramp and camping, mountain biking, rafting, risk management.
NB: For Year 13 students who would like to take OED some leadership unit standards can be made available in this course. These would be most suited to students who have taken OED at level 2 already or have experience in OED or leadership situations. Please see TIC or HOF to discuss this option.
Recommended Prior Learning
A keen interest in Outdoor Education. A positive attitude & behaviour, ability to work safely and co-operatively within a group in challenging outdoor situations. HOF & TIC approval.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Cost: approx $600. This may vary.
Due to the significant cost of this course please discuss this with Mr Walter or Mrs Remington.
Days out of School: maximum of 10 days. This course will include an overnight camp(s) and also the possibility of some weekend or holiday time.
Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
