Course Description

Sports Science provides challenging learning experiences in sport and physical activity with a strong emphasis on learning through practical participation. This course includes sports leadership (coaching) and investigating the influences on their own lifetime involvement in sport.

Achievement Standard 91501 - students will need to select a sport to be assessed in from the NZQA list of Level 3 rubrics. Students who take Y13 Sports Science A (Sporting Performance) will have completed this standard in semester A.

If you are intending for this to be a University approved subject, you must take both Semester A and B of this course.

Recommended Prior Learning

A minimum of 6 credits gained in Year 12 Sports Science A or Year 12 Sports Science B or with Head of Faculty approval. A keen interest in sport and the science of sport and fitness. A sound level of literacy is required.


Course selection will depend on the option lines and student numbers. There is no guarantee that the courses you select now will all be available for you in 2021.
