Level 3 Performance Music - Showtime - Semester A

Although 2021 timetables are yet to be finalised, course selection is now finished. Any changes to student courses will now take place in January 2020.

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs S. Bullot

Aim To plan, manage and perform in a live performance opportunity either in a boutique studio or large audience setting.
Students will developing performance skills as both a soloists and as a member of a group on their chosen instrument/s as well as learning skills in event planning, programme writing, emcee skills, stage management, set design and setting up and using sound technology.
It is expected that students will develop skills in all areas but will complete between 8 and 12 credits for assessment. Not all skills taught will be assessed.

Students taking this course are not eligible to take Level 3 Performance Music - Showtime- Semester B. This is a one semester course only. Students would benefit from moving to Music Knowledge in Semester B if they wish to continue developing their music skills.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students will have the opportunity to attend one concert during this course. This will offer students a chance to experience music from genres outside their normal listening parameters and through this extend their knowledge in performance. It is optional, transport and ticket costs to be advised.

Recommended Prior Learning

 Six credits NCEA Level 2 Music credits (must include either group or solo at level 1) or by audition with the HOF.
