Level 3 Fabric - Pattern Drafting & Making - Semester A

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms R. Cameron

Students will learn pattern drafting skills and create a unique garment.

Students can create an outfit to enter into the Pin'd Creative Showcase in August.


Course Overview

Term 1
Learn how to draft a basic block and turn it into any design you want.
Take body measurements and develop your understanding of fitting issues and how to fix them.
Create a garment to test your pattern making skills.

Use your knowledge and skill to create an outfit to enter in the Pin'd Creative Showcase in August.

Term 2
Complete the construction of your Pin'd outfit.

Term 3
Model your outfit in the Pin'd Creative Showcase in August.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

$15 entry fee to the Pin'd Creative Showcase competition
Students to organise and/or buy own fabric and components for own sewing projects
A4 clear file and/or BYOD to store assessment evidence

Recommended Prior Learning

Some credits at Level 2 in Materials Technology Fabric and a keen interest in sewing and clothing design with basic sewing skills. Or with HOF approval.
