Course Description

Learn how to incorporate special features into clothing patterns and make a garment to meet set quality standards.
All students are expected to provide their own materials for their sewing projects.
Course Overview
Term 2
Learn about special features in garment construction and how they are created. Special features include set in sleeves, fly fronts, tailored collars and cuffs, welt pockets and decorative features.
Develop your understanding of quality specifications and how to meet them by examining a range of garments with special features.
Learn how to alter a pattern to include at least 2 special features.
Term 3
Plan how to construct a garment with at least 2 special features.
Write specifications for your garment.
Make your garment and evaluate it against your specifications.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Students to organise and/or buy own pattern, fabric and components for garment construction.
A4 clear file and BYOD to store assessment evidence
Recommended Prior Learning
Basic sewing skills and knowledge and an interest in making your own clothes.
