Level 2 Environmental Studies - The Future Planet - Semester A

Although 2021 timetables are yet to be finalised, course selection is now finished. Any changes to student courses will now take place in January 2020.

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr P. Besley

Sustainability is a critical issue for New Zealand – environmentally, economically, culturally and socially. We need to learn how to live smarter to reduce our impact on the environment for future generations.
Environmental Studies is about learning to think and act in ways that will safeguard the future well being of people and our planet.
Environmental Studies includes learning about:
The environment - water, land, ecosystems, energy, waste, urban living, transportation.
The interactions between the natural environment and human activities, and the consequences of these.
The choices and actions we can take to prevent, reduce, or change harmful activities to the environment.

It is expected that students will develop skills in all areas but will complete between 8 and 12 credits for assessment. Not all skills taught will be assessed.
