Level 1 Innovative Horticulture - Semester B

Although 2021 timetables are yet to be finalised, course selection is now finished. Any changes to student courses will now take place in January 2020.

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs H. Johnson

What you learn in this course is entirely up to you. There are practical investigations in horticulture and/or chemistry, a biological report, topics about production and business, human resources and marketing, as well as a project in which you learn coding and build and program an automated electronic device. All standards in this semester are internally assessed. This is an Achievement Standard course which can ultimately take you to tertiary study and a career in primary industries.

Students will choose, in consultation with the Innovative Horticulture Manager, how many standards their individual pathway is made up of based on ability and needs. Typically you will select 12 credits in total.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Field trips, if any, depend on subjects chosen. Allow up to $30.

Recommended Prior Learning

None necessary. The modular nature of these courses requires you to be able to work independently.

Course selection will depend on the option lines and student numbers. There is no guarantee that the courses you select now will all be available for you in 2021.
