Level 1 Coasties
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr A. Walter.
Coasties is a Level 1 course that uses riding waves, ( eg.surfing) as the context for learning. In this course you will access standards from Physical Education and aspects of Social Sciences. This course will focus on the physical skills of riding waves, fitness for surf related sports, waves, surfing products and the environment. This is an exciting course that will involve some trips to Waihi Beach and possibly Raglan and Whangamata.
The cost of the camps is approximately $150 (two camps at $75 each).
Recommended Prior Learning
Students will need basic water safety skills and confidence in the surf. Students do not need to be able to surf already . They may be wanting to learn to surf. Please discuss your level of confidence in the water and prior learning with Mr Walter if you are unsure.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
The cost of the camps is approximately $200 (two camps at $100 each).
Students will also require a full-length wetsuit suitable for surfing in winter.
