Level 2 Music and Creative Sounds

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs S. Bullot.

This course provides students with a comprehensive programme which looks at the necessary skills and knowledge to develop as a holistic musician.

Students will select from a combination of standards suited to their skill set and preferred musical pathway. They will have the opportunity to perform in both solo and group contexts on their primary and second instruments (if they are specialising in more than one instrument), compose music, and study music works and their contexts.

Many elements of this course will incorporate Music and Sound technology.

Recommended Prior Learning

Entry is subject to approval by the Music Teacher and dependent on results from Year 11 Music. Participation in Katikati College Performing Arts events is strongly recommended. All students must be learning a musical instrument or voice for the year either privately or through the school run Itinerant Music Programme.

Students will have the opportunity to attend one concert during this course. This will offer students a chance to experience music from genres outside their normal listening parameters and through this extend their knowledge in composition and performance. It is optional, transport and ticket costs to be advised.
