Level 2 Drama

Course Description

The Year 12 Drama course is a fun and engaging way to explore creativity and self expression through creation, performance and pushing the boundaries in theatre. We aim to provide a safe space to explore, challenge yourself and perform through various theatre forms.

This course is looking at building upon skills learnt in year 11 exploring the techniques, conventions and elements of drama. Students will explore the world around us through studying and performing scripted works. They will apply the skills they learn throughout the year to devise and create their own drama works. This course offers public performance opportunities where students can showcase their work as a class. There is options for also writing your own script.

Students will be encouraged to attend live theatre performances during the year. There is an out of class rehearsal commitment required as part of this course.
It is expected that students will develop skills in all areas but will complete between 8 and 14 credits for assessment. Not all skills taught will be assessed.

Recommended Prior Learning

Due to the group nature of all of the internal standards in this course, students who have a poor attendance record or choose to take a subject that requires major learning off campus may find it difficult to complete all group performance assessments.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students are encouraged to attend live performances for materials to use in their external exam.
