Level 2 Digital Technology

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr H. Carr.

Students will develop their existing programming skills from Year 11.

This course will begin with an introduction to databases, where students will use PHP and SQL to manage and manipulate data. 


The next topic students will learn Java programming, applying their skills to build problem-solving applications. 


The final topic of the course will cover web design, focusing on HTML and JavaScript to create interactive and visually appealing websites.

Term 1
Introducing back-end databases and connecting a website to it.

Languages we'll use are SQL/PHP/HTML/CSS

Term 2
Finishing Databases.

Recap of programming.
Introduction to Java.
Variables - data types
Objects
Parsing - input/output
List/Arrays
Data Structures - Stack/Queue

Term 3
Finishing up Java.

Web design involving libraries, JavaScript.

Term 4
A Preview for Y13

Recommended Prior Learning

Year 11 Digital Technology. Or with HOF approval.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

A personal laptop that can install BlueJ is highly recommended.
